Editorial methodology

MoistureGear Guide publishes documented equipment research and practical explanations. Its research reviews are not presented as hands-on laboratory tests. Where a figure comes from a manufacturer, the article identifies the relevant version and rating conditions.

Source selection

We prioritize manufacturer product pages, matching manuals and specification sheets, government resources, university guidance, and established building-science references. Retailer listings can help locate a configuration, but they are not a substitute for the exact technical document or warranty policy.

Version matching

Model names sometimes cover different generations, pump arrangements, connected controls, refrigerants, or bundles. We identify the configuration discussed and avoid importing an older model’s specification into a newer review. When documents conflict, we qualify the uncertainty or omit the disputed detail.

Comparisons and recommendations

A comparison starts with the reader’s task. Equipment is assessed through capacity under comparable conditions, physical fit, drainage, controls, service access, support, and purchase considerations. Recommendations explain their criteria and tradeoffs. Numerical review scores and test measurements are not invented from specifications.

Capacity and performance

AHAM, saturation, and DOE figures can use different conditions or procedures. We state the relevant test point and product class where needed. Manufacturer coverage and operating-range claims are not treated as guarantees of extraction, drying time, or suitability in an individual building.

Commercial relationships

Affiliate links are disclosed near product links and in the affiliate disclosure. Product-search links require the reader to verify the exact listing and seller. The website does not publish Amazon live prices or stock claims through an unsupported data feed.

Updates and corrections

A source-check date records when the research was reviewed; it does not guarantee that a source or product remains unchanged. Corrections should identify the article, exact model or claim, and a useful supporting document. We evaluate the evidence and update affected explanations where warranted.

Scope of the guidance

Articles provide equipment-selection and planning information. They cannot establish the moisture load, safety, code compliance, or drying outcome of an individual property. Matching manufacturer instructions and qualified assessment remain relevant for electrical work, duct design, concealed moisture, and contaminated water damage.
